What soapstone is like
- It is softer than granite, and it will mark.
- It takes heat straight off the stove.
- It never needs sealing against stains.
- It darkens as it is used, which most people come to like.
Real soapstone, or quartz that looks like it?
Several quartz lines sell colours with "soapstone" in the name that only imitate the look. Both are good surfaces and we sell both, but they behave completely differently, so ask us which one you are looking at. Quartz countertops
