Who we are

What you send us

The only thing this website asks you for is a quote request. That form collects:

• Your name.
• Your phone number and email address, so we can answer.
• The town or address where the work would be.
• What you are looking for, in your own words.

We use that to work out your quote and to get back to you. It reaches the shop as an email and is kept with our job records. We do not sell it, rent it, trade it, or add you to a mailing list.

The form does not accept photo or drawing uploads today. If that changes, this page changes with it.

What the website records by itself

Two things happen without you doing anything, and you should know about both.

• Your internet address is stored with a quote request. It is recorded alongside the form, which is how we tell a real enquiry from a machine sending junk.
• Our web host keeps its own server records of pages served, in the ordinary way every web host does. Those are the host's records and they control how long they keep them.

Counting visits

We use Google Analytics to count visits and to see which pages lead to calls and quote requests. It is the only outside measuring tool on this site, and there is deliberately no pop-up asking you to accept or reject it.

What that means in practice:

• It stores two small files in your browser, named _ga and _ga_HCHV9CHGPE. They hold a random number, not your name. We set them to last 180 days rather than Google's usual two years.
• It records which pages you looked at, roughly where you are, what kind of device you used, and which site sent you here.
• It records five actions: tapping our phone number, tapping for directions, starting the quote form, sending it, and opening a photo full screen. It never sends Google your name, your phone number, your email address, or anything you typed into the form.
• Google receives your internet address and uses it to work out the rough city and region, to catch junk traffic, and to route the request. Google says it does not tie raw addresses to a person and discards them afterwards.
• We have Google's advertising features switched off. Nothing here is used to follow you around the internet or to aim adverts at you.

Three ways you are not counted at all

• You are in Europe, the UK or Switzerland. Those visitors are not measured. Nothing is loaded from Google for them at all.
• Your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal. That is a setting in some browsers that tells sites not to sell or share your information. We are not legally required to honour it. We honour it anyway, and it switches the counting off completely.
• You press the button below. It remembers your choice in this browser on this device. Clearing your browsing data forgets it, and you would need to press it again.

On 'Do Not Track': browsers send that signal in different ways and there is no agreed meaning for it, so we do not treat it as a choice on its own. The Global Privacy Control signal above is the one we act on.

Other companies' content on our pages

One page on this site shows a supplier's own catalog inside a window: Cambria, on our Cambria page. While that window is open, Cambria can see that you are looking at it and may store their own files in your browser. We do not control what they collect and we do not receive it. Their privacy policy covers it.

Everywhere else, the photographs you see are hosted by us. Our Daltile, MSI, Silestone and Viatera pages no longer load anything from those companies.

How long we keep things

Quote requests and the emails they create are kept for as long as we are in business — we archive quote requests rather than deleting them, so we can look a job up years later. Our Google Analytics numbers are kept for 14 months, which is the longest a free account allows.

Asking us about your information

Call 828-837-1900 or email murphygranite@yahoo.com and we will tell you what we have, correct it, or delete it. You do not have to explain why.

Children

This site is meant for people buying countertops. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect anything from a child under 13.

We serve customers in North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee, and this site is meant for people in the United States.
