Is there a slab yard near Franklin I can walk?

Yes. Ours is on US-64 just outside Murphy, about 60 minutes west, with 400+ full slabs on the racks. Walk them in daylight and choose the slab you want; the tops for your Franklin kitchen are cut from that slab in our own shop, and our own crew sets them. We can help you in English or Spanish. Anyone can walk the yard during our hours; no appointment needed.

Do you do more than kitchens in Franklin?

Yes. Kitchens are most of it, but close to three in ten of our Franklin jobs have included a bath or vanity, and we have done laundry rooms and fireplace hearths there too. For a vanity or a laundry top, a remnant from the yard is often all you need.

Local history

A bit of Franklin history

Franklin was laid out in 1820 on the site of the Cherokee town Nikwasi and named for Jesse Franklin, elected governor that year. Nikwasi's mound still stands downtown and in 2026 was returned to the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, who call it Noquisiyi. Corundum, the mineral of rubies and sapphires, was mined at Corundum Hill from 1871, and in 1895 a company began working the Cowee Valley gravels for rubies.

What customers say

4.9 on Google across 68 reviews.

We love Western NC. The tradeoff is that some things are much harder to find than in a big city, or at least that there is far less selection. With that being said Murphy Granite Outlet is an exception to that.

Outstanding company with an excellent business model. From step 1 meeting with Joel and obtaining an estimate to step 2 measurements to step 3 installation by Pedro and Edwardo. Very professional, courteous, hassle free process.
