A bit of Cashiers history
Cashiers' post office once went by the name Cashiers Valley. By the 1840s the Hampton family of Columbia, South Carolina, was spending summers in the valley, and other South Carolina families also came to get away from the heat back home. The Hampton estate of 450 acres later became the site of the High Hampton Inn.
