Quartz Countertops

Five quartz makers, and our own crew cuts and installs every one of them — from our yard near Murphy, across three states.

1,314 quartz installs since our records began in 2015

Counted from our own invoices: about one job in 6 has quartz in it. The shop has been cutting stone countertops since 2007.

Engineered quartz gives you a consistent pattern edge to edge and a surface that never needs sealing. You choose from the maker's colours, and we cut it to your kitchen.

  • Our own crew, start to finish. We template, cut and install every job ourselves and never subcontract.
  • About a week from laser template to installed countertops, for most kitchens.
  • We warranty our work.

How it goes

From template to installed

  • Laser template. Precise digital measurements captured in your space.
  • Layout. Our team verifies every edge, seam, and cutout in CAD before cutting. We plan seam placement digitally before anything is cut, so the pattern flows as continuously as the slab allows.
  • Cutting. Computer-guided cutting for exact fit and consistency.
  • Installation. Our own crew sets it, about a week from template for most kitchens.

Countertop quartz is typically fabricated in 2cm and 3cm. We will recommend the right one for your cabinets, overhangs, and edge profile at quote time.

Edges and islands

Edges, miters and waterfall islands

Every edge is profiled and finished by hand in our shop. The edge profiles we offer:

  • 1/4" roll
  • 1/4" bevel
  • Eased and polished
  • Half bullnose
  • Full bullnose
  • Ogee
  • Chiseled
  • Mitered edges — a strip of the same slab is mitered to the front edge, so the counter reads as one thicker piece of stone. On a mitered edge we recommend an eased and polished profile.
  • Waterfall islands — the stone turns down the end of the island to the floor. We build them regularly.
  • Full-height backsplashes — stone carried up the wall behind the counter.
  • Outdoor kitchens — yes, we do outdoor kitchen countertops. Tell us it is going outside when you ask for a quote.

Log cabins, lake houses, modern and mountain-modern builds: we cut for all of them, and we do several lake houses a week.

Living with quartz

  • Quartz surfaces are nonporous — no sealing, ever. Warm water and mild soap handle daily cleanup.
  • Use trivets under hot cookware. Heat and sudden temperature changes can mark any engineered surface.
  • Cutting boards protect both the knife and the finish.
  • Several quartz lines sell colours with "soapstone" in the name that only imitate the look. They behave completely differently from real soapstone, so ask us which one you are looking at.

Questions

Quartz questions we hear most

How long does a quartz countertop take?

For most kitchens, about a week from laser template to installed countertops. Your quote confirms the schedule for your project.

Does quartz need sealing?

No. Quartz surfaces are nonporous — no sealing, ever. Warm water and mild soap handle daily cleanup.

Can I set a hot pan on quartz?

Use a trivet under hot cookware. Heat and sudden temperature changes can mark any engineered surface.

Will I have a seam?

Possibly, and we cannot promise otherwise. Seams are a standard part of stone countertops, and where they fall is a saw-time decision — the layout of your job, the size of the slab, the run of the veining, access to your house, and crew safety all come into it. Our fabricators plan seam locations for strength, appearance, and pattern flow. Every seam stays visible and can be felt, and an exact pattern match across a seam cannot be guaranteed.

Do you subcontract any of the work?

No. Our own crew templates, fabricates, and installs every job. The people who measure your kitchen are the people who cut it and the people who set it.

How far do you travel?

Across western North Carolina, north Georgia and eastern Tennessee — 55 mountain towns in all.
